We’re coming down to the exciting finish line of the WSL’s World Championship Tour.

With two World Surf League events left to unfold, the Rip Curl Pro Portugal and the Billabong Pipe Masters, the 2016 World Title Race is up for grabs… Who will take the title home?

Three surfers are locked in a captivating title race! While John John undoubtedly has the upper hand, what are the possible World Title scenarios? Can John John Florence clinch the 2016 World Title here in Portugal? Can Medina come back from his early exit at the Portugal Pro and win it? Or could Jordy Smith continue his winning streak and chase down the title?

Are you tired of trying to figure out the possibilities yourself (or listening to Strider Wasilewski doing the same)?

Coming into final’s day at the Rip Curl Pro Portugal, current Jeep Leader John John Florence is facing Kolohe Andino in the semi-finals and Jordy Smith is taking on Conner Coffin.

Here are the possible scenarios for the title race :

Scenario 1 :  John John Florence wins in Portugal

Game Over.  John John is crowned World Champion. Yeeeeew!

Scenario 2 :  John John loses in the semis in Portugal

John John makes it past round 3 at Pipe, he takes the title. If not…

Jordy Smith would take the title ONLY IF he wins BOTH in Portugal AND at Pipe.

Medina would take the title ONLY IF he makes the final at Pipe.

Scenario 3 : John John loses in the finals in Portugal

John John makes it past round 2 at Pipe, he takes the title. If not…

Jordy Smith would take the title ONLY IF he wins BOTH in Portugal AND at Pipe.

Medina would take the title ONLY IF he wins at Pipe.

Soooo while the race is certainly still on, it seems the 2016 WSL World Title is in John’s hands!
